KUWAIT CITY, March 20: Kuwait Petroleum Corporation announced that the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery was targeted by multiple hostile drones at dawn on Friday, triggering a fire in several units of the facility.
In a statement, the corporation said initial assessments confirmed that no casualties were reported following the attack.
Emergency and firefighting teams were immediately deployed to contain the blaze, while a number of refinery units were temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure. Authorities also implemented all necessary safety procedures to protect workers and secure the site.
The situation remains under control as investigations into the incident continue, according to the Government Communication Center.
According to the General Fire Force, teams are currently dealing with a fire in one of the units at the Ahmadi refinery after it was targeted by drones, which led to the outbreak of the fire. Details will be announced later.
