KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29:  Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila has referred cases involving suspected misappropriation of public funds at the Public Authority for Disability Affairs to the Public Prosecution.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Huwayla said the referral was the second within a week and followed an investigation into violations involving maintenance works and contracts. The investigation found payments had been made for quantities and work that were not fully carried out on the ground, with the suspected financial damage estimated at KD 1.211 million ($3.95 million).

The minister stressed that protecting public funds was a non-negotiable responsibility and said all cases involving potential criminal violations would be subject to legal and administrative action. She added that authorities would seek to recover any funds found to have been improperly disbursed.

Al-Huwayla said accountability would extend to anyone proven responsible or negligent, regardless of position, and pledged continued oversight to ensure integrity and proper management of public funds.
