KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior said on Monday that 27,642 traffic violations were issued and 322 vehicles impounded during intensive field campaigns carried out across various governorates over the past week.
In a statement, the Ministry, represented by the General Traffic Department, said the campaigns were conducted from January 19 to 25 and also resulted in the impounding of 38 motorcycles for various violations and 41 vehicles wanted by the courts.
During the same period, traffic teams handled 2,350 assorted traffic reports, including 230 cases involving collisions and injuries, and recorded 876 traffic accidents, the statement said.
The campaigns further led to the arrest of 91 individuals for violating residency laws, the referral of 16 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without a license, and the detention of 45 individuals. Authorities also arrested nine people without official identification and apprehended 65 individuals wanted for security reasons, including absconders and those with outstanding arrest warrants.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to continuing intensive traffic campaigns nationwide to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, to protect drivers and pedestrians, and create a safer traffic environment.
It stressed that all necessary legal measures will be taken against violators to maintain traffic order and safeguard the lives of road users.
