KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: Recent statistics revealed that total ticket sales in 2025 reached KD336.346 million, equivalent to $1.094 billion, indicating the remarkable growth of the air travel sector in the country. The newspaper obtained a copy of statistics issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), disclosing that the total number of tickets sold in 2025 reached 3.308 million – higher than the total sales of 3.266 million in 2024.
The statistics showed that July recorded the highest ticket sales with a total of 338,000 tickets, followed by May with 327,000, and then August with 304,000. Sales during the summer period exceeded one million tickets. The statistics also indicated that tickets issued in Kuwait constituted 5.23 percent of the total tickets issued in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Meanwhile, IATA identified 83 airlines operating at Kuwait International Airport -- a decrease of two airlines compared to last year, while the number of licensed travel agencies operating in the country reached 610
Moreover, reliable sources told the newspaper that airport authorities are in constant communication and coordination with the airlines to determine their flight needs and destinations for the upcoming summer season, which is expected to witness a high volume of travelers.
