KUWAIT CITY, May 18: The Kuwait Ministry of Interior announced that the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector recorded 17,834 traffic violations and dealt with 1,466 traffic accidents during intensive nationwide campaigns carried out over a seven-day period aimed at enhancing road safety and enforcing traffic laws.
According to the ministry, the operations were conducted by the General Directorate of Traffic and the General Directorate of Emergency Police between May 10 and 16. During the campaigns, authorities referred 12 juveniles to the Public Prosecution and arrested multiple violators involved in residency, narcotics and public safety offenses.
The General Directorate of Traffic said field campaigns resulted in the issuance of 16,559 traffic violations, the arrest of 145 residency violators and 18 individuals without official identification documents. Six people were referred to the General Department of Drug Control, while four others found in an abnormal condition were referred to the competent authorities.
Authorities also seized 35 vehicles wanted by the judiciary, impounded 332 vehicles and 42 motorcycles, and handled 2,827 traffic-related reports, including 210 injury-related accidents and 1,070 collision cases.
Meanwhile, emergency police patrols carried out 1,770 security operations during the same period, arresting 41 wanted persons linked to various cases, 12 residency violators and three individuals without identification documents. Officers also seized eight vehicles wanted by judicial authorities.
The ministry added that emergency police teams resolved nine fights and brought those involved under control, while also providing assistance in 937 emergency cases. In addition, officers issued 1,275 traffic citations, impounded 17 vehicles for serious violations and dealt with 186 traffic accidents.
The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector stressed that ensuring the safety of motorists and pedestrians remains a top priority, affirming that authorities will continue strict enforcement measures against reckless and illegal behavior that threatens lives and property.
Officials also reaffirmed the continued round-the-clock deployment of emergency police patrols across roads and residential areas to respond swiftly to reports, violations and security incidents throughout the country.
