Kuwait recalls baby formula as a precautionary measure

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) announced on Sunday that certain baby formula products have been recalled as a precautionary measure.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), PAFN said the products, manufactured in France by Lactalis Nutrition Santé under the brand name ENFASTAR, are subject to a voluntary recall by the company. The authority confirmed that these products have not been imported into Kuwait and have not been detected in local markets.

PAFN said it received a notification through the Rapid Alert System for Food (RASFF) and the International Food Safety Authorities Network (IFIS) indicating that Lactalis initiated the recall due to the possible presence of cereulide in one of the raw materials used in production.

The authority urged consumers to check product batch numbers and, if they match those included in the recall, to immediately stop using the product and follow official PAFN instructions.

In a related matter, PAFN noted a voluntary precautionary recall by Danone of certain infant formula products manufactured in Ireland under the Aptamil Advance brand, also due to the presence of cereulide.

PAFN confirmed that it has taken all necessary measures in line with food safety regulations, including monitoring the recall process with suppliers and distributors and immediately halting circulation of affected batches to protect consumer health.

Consumers were advised to verify affected batches through official PAFN channels and follow safety guidelines issued by the authority.
