Kuwait Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Radicalism and Extremist Ideologies

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: The Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Eng. Hamad Al-Hamad, highlighted the ban on organizing any competitions, events, or activities in schools that promote religious or political fanaticism or incite sectarianism or partisanship, reports Al-Anba daily. In a circular sent to educational zones, religious and private education sectors, and the Special Education Department, Eng. Al-Hamad outlined guidelines for managing educational activities during the morning assembly, which is intended to promote discipline, a sense of belonging, mental and physical readiness for the school day, patriotism, social skills, communication, and knowledge among the students.

The circular instructed that all school administrations must adhere to the following:

- Cabinet Resolution No. 691/2024, which prohibits all entities, institutions, public bodies, and official delegations from raising any foreign flag or playing any foreign national anthem during official occasions inside or outside Kuwait.

- Ministerial Resolution No. 135/2025, which regulates the organization of celebrations inside schools. - General Bulletin No. 17 for the three educational levels, which outlines the mechanism for implementing school activities, the objectives of such activities, and the criteria for proper planning of school programs. The circular explained that the organization of any competitions, events, or activities that promote religious or political fanaticism, or incite sectarianism or partisanship, is strictly prohibited.

Activities and events should be organized to support the educational process and help develop students’ talents and abilities. Also, all students, including latecomers, must attend the morning assembly to benefit fully from its activities and programs. In addition, students’ self-confidence should be strengthened through active participation in activities and events that reinforce the educational process.
