WASHINGTON, Sept 30: Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation has underscored its commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women in the aviation sector by actively participating in a dedicated session during the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), currently taking place in Montreal, Canada.

Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety and Air Transport, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, told KUNA late Monday that the Kuwaiti delegation took part in the meeting of the Global Network of Gender Liaison Officers (GLOBOs), which convened to share best practices, challenges, and international and regional initiatives aimed at promoting women’s participation in aviation.

Kuwait was represented in the session by Shoug Al-Kout and Ameera Al-Azmi, reflecting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) commitment to ICAO’s vision of gender equality and the broader national approach to empowering women across key sectors, including civil aviation.

According to Al-Rajhi, the meeting emphasized the importance of developing effective programs and tools to enhance gender equality, further integrate women into all levels of the aviation industry, and support their presence in international platforms.

The session served as a forum for exchanging experiences and discussing the role of women in aviation, as well as addressing obstacles and identifying strategies to overcome them.

The 42nd ICAO General Assembly continues through October 3, bringing together representatives from member states and international aviation organizations to collaborate on global civil aviation priorities, including sustainability, safety, innovation, and gender inclusivity.
