WASHINGTON, Sept 27: Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at advancing the global air transport industry and strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in line with the objectives of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Sheikh Humoud Al-Sabah made the remarks on Friday during the ongoing ICAO General Assembly session in Montreal, Canada, which commenced on September 23 and will continue until October 3. The event has drawn wide participation from member states and international civil aviation organizations.
Highlighting the fourth day of the assembly, Sheikh Humoud noted that discussions concluded on a range of working papers submitted by member states, covering critical areas such as air navigation, safety and security, air transport, legal and administrative matters, and other key aviation industry priorities.
In addition to formal sessions, Kuwait’s delegation, chaired by Sheikh Humoud, took part in official dinners hosted by Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Egypt, which served as platforms to foster fraternal ties and informal dialogue among representatives from various member states.
The Kuwaiti delegation engaged in several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the assembly. Talks with the Saudi delegation focused on reviewing working papers and exploring avenues to deepen cooperation in civil aviation. Discussions with the French delegation addressed operational and technical challenges and future opportunities within the aviation sector.
A meeting with the Italian delegation centered on boosting air transport cooperation, including plans to increase direct flights and the prospective operation of Italy’s national carrier in Kuwait. The talks also emphasized enhancing transportation links to strengthen economic and tourism relations between the two countries.
Sheikh Humoud’s active participation underscores Kuwait’s role as a committed partner in advancing the global civil aviation agenda and fostering international collaboration.
