MADRID, Oct 31: Kuwait is proud of the “successful” first outing of its modern pentathlon team at the Portugal-hosted world championships, the country’s delegation chief Faisal Al- Hamad said on Monday. The Kuwaiti side’s outing at the modern pentathlon world championships in the popular Portuguese island of Madeira had actually marked Kuwait’s maiden appearance in this sport, he told KUNA after the showpiece event.

In a bid to bring more exposure to the sport at home, the Kuwaiti official said he held talks with the chief of modern pentathlon’s governing body as part of efforts to explore joint endeavors, which in turn, will propel the sport to greater levels in Kuwait. He went on to express his pride in the performance of his athletes, saying they lived up to expectations and are now better prepared ahead of forthcoming global events. (KUNA)
