KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: The Ministry of Interior's Anti-Forgery and Counterfeiting Department has launched a comprehensive investigation into suspected cases of forged university degrees following a report received from the Ministry of Higher Education. The inquiry involves 123 male and female Kuwaiti citizens working in various public-sector institutions.
According to informed sources, the Ministry’s report highlighted a number of observations and raised doubts about the authenticity of certain academic certificates submitted by public employees. These concerns prompted the immediate initiation of legal and technical procedures aimed at verifying the validity of the documents, including a thorough examination of academic data and a comparison of official seals with those used by the universities said to have issued the degrees.
The sources explained that, upon receiving the information, the Anti-Forgery and Counterfeiting Department began an in-depth review of the suspected certificates, focusing on their technical specifications and authenticity indicators. The department also coordinated with relevant authorities inside the country as part of established procedures for handling cases related to academic and document forgery.
In addition, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has been contacted through official international cooperation channels. Interpol’s role includes verifying the accuracy of the certificate details and university seals, confirming whether the issuing institutions are properly accredited, and validating graduation records with the universities concerned.
The sources emphasized that investigations are still ongoing and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone proven to be involved in forgery or related offenses. They stressed that security authorities will show zero tolerance toward any attempt to compromise the credibility of academic qualifications or undermine public trust in the education system. The integrity of academic credentials, they noted, is a cornerstone of fair employment practices and an essential safeguard for the public interest.
