KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: Kuwait authorities have arrested a Bangladeshi expatriate in Bayan who had been reported missing and in violation of residency laws for 16 years, according to security sources.

Bayan detectives stopped the man during a patrol after noticing him carrying a bag and suspecting that it contained alcoholic substances. When officers ordered him to stop, he allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

During questioning, the man reportedly gave unclear answers about why he had run away and claimed that his Civil ID was at his residence.

A fingerprint check subsequently revealed that he had been listed as missing for 16 years and had also been recorded as violating Kuwait’s residency regulations.

The expatriate was referred to the Administrative Deportation Department to take the necessary legal measures.
