KUWAIT CITY, Apr 28: The General Directorate of Traffic and the General Directorate of Emergency Police carried out extensive security and traffic campaigns between April 20 and 26, resulting in the issuance of 15,088 traffic citations, the impoundment of 188 vehicles and motorcycles, and the arrest of 396 individuals violating residency and security laws.
According to officials, the campaigns were conducted across main and secondary roads as part of intensified monitoring efforts. Traffic authorities alone impounded 137 vehicles and 15 motorcycles under Article 207 of the Traffic Law, while also handling 2,375 traffic reports, 205 injury-related collisions, and 865 non-injury accidents.
Enforcement actions also included the arrest of 63 individuals for expired residency permits, six persons without identification, and one individual in an intoxicated condition, who was referred to the competent authorities. In addition, 122 people wanted for various offenses, including absenteeism and outstanding arrest warrants, were detained, along with 26 vehicles flagged for legal warrants.
The Emergency Police reported further arrests of 146 individuals wanted in criminal, debt, theft, and absconding cases, as well as 45 persons with expired residency and 14 without identification. Officers also intervened in six fights, bringing the situations under control without escalation, and responded to 949 humanitarian and field assistance cases.
Authorities also dealt with 48 security-related reports involving drones, suspicious objects, and explosion alerts, all handled as per established procedures. The campaign also recorded 1,344 additional traffic violations, 10 vehicle impoundments, and 149 traffic accidents, including two involving pedestrians.
Officials said the results reflect intensified enforcement, increased patrol presence, and ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and maintain public security across the country.
