Kuwait Permits 30-Minute Husseiniyah Rituals Amid Regional Situation

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 7: The Ministry of Interior has announced that a limited number of Husseiniyahs will be permitted to hold commemorative rituals marking the martyrdom of Ali ibn Abi Talib, under strict conditions due to the current circumstances facing Kuwait and the wider region.

In a statement, the ministry said the rituals will be allowed for 30 minutes starting at 10:00 p.m., following coordination and agreement with the owners of selected Husseiniyahs and relevant authorities.

Authorities stressed that the gatherings must be strictly confined to the premises of the Husseiniyah or mosque, with full adherence to official instructions and safety guidelines.

The ministry warned that any violation of the rules would result in legal action against offenders.

It also said that the owners of the approved Husseiniyahs must report to the relevant departments of the Interior Ministry to sign a formal pledge committing to the regulations governing the rituals.

The deadline for signing the commitment was set for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, the statement added, noting that no Husseiniyah will be allowed to hold the rituals unless the pledge has been signed by those responsible for managing the premises.

The ministry reiterated that legal measures will be taken against any party that fails to comply with the announced controls.
