KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday the temporary suspension of certain services for litigants on the unified government e-services application “Sahel”and the ministry’s electronic portal, citing the current situation in the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press release, the ministry explained that the suspended services include “Request for Arrest of a Debtor” and “Arrest Warrants,” and will remain unavailable until further notice. All other electronic services will continue to be accessible to the public. In this regard, the Minister of Justice, Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, stressed that the measure is temporary and that normal procedures will resume once the situation stabilizes.
He explained that arrest warrants have been lifted in 371 enforcement cases, including 53 involving debtors who were previously imprisoned. The total amount paid in these cases reached KD 231,526, of which KD 114,779 came from the donations fund of the General Department for Sentences Enforcement. Counselor Al-Sumait affirmed that all actions were carried out in coordination with the Head of the General Department for Sentences Enforcement, Counselor Abdullah Al-Qasimi.
In other news, the Ministry of Justice has stopped receiving applications for the position of Junior Legal Researcher (qualifying for the position of Public Prosecutor) for the 2024-2025 cohort, following the end of the application period on the ministry’s website, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a press statement on Tuesday, the ministry explained that a total of 855 applications were received. These applications will be reviewed and verified according to the established criteria and conditions in preparation for the remaining stages of the selection process. The ministry stated that this step is part of the state’s plan to apply the Kuwaitization policy in the judiciary sector and enhance reliance on qualified and competent nationals to support the justice system.
