Kuwait para-athletes earn 4 medals in Dubai tourney

Kuwaiti para-athletes won four medals at the Fazza international world para-athletics competition held in Dubai, said an official Wednesday.

Speaking to KUNA, head of the Kuwaiti delegation Shafi Al-Hajri said that Ahmad Al-Mutairi earned a gold medal for his country in the 100-meter wheelchair race for the F33 category while fellow countrymen Dhari Betti and Abdullah Al-Saleh won respectively two silver medals in the F37 and F46 shot put event.

Female athlete Fatma Najem won a bronze medal in the F34 shot put event, indicated the official, revealing that Kuwait, thus far, has gained six medals during the current competition. Al-Hajri commended the efforts of the Kuwaiti athletes, which reflected their strong determination and will to effectively represent Kuwait.

The international tournament witnessed the participation of 434 athletes from 29 nations.

The Kuwaiti para-athletes took part last week in the Sharjah international para athletics championship. (KUNA)
