Kuwait, Pakistan sign joint defense cooperation agreement

ISLAMABAD, Aug 27:  Kuwait and Pakistan signed a joint agreement on defense and military cooperation during an official visit by Kuwaiti Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah to Islamabad on Thursday.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Abdullah and Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in the presence of Kuwait Army Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiaan and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nassar Al-Mutairi.

According to a statement issued by Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense, the two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in the military and defense fields.

The talks also covered regional and international developments, issues of common interest and efforts to address them in ways that support security and stability in the region and reinforce the strategic partnership between Kuwait and Pakistan.

The ministry said the agreement marks a significant step in defense and military cooperation between the two countries, providing a framework to enhance operational coordination, exchange expertise and improve the readiness and integration of their armed forces.

The agreement is also expected to serve the common interests of Kuwait and Pakistan and contribute to regional security and stability.

Sheikh Abdullah and his accompanying delegation departed Kuwait for Pakistan on Thursday morning for the official visit, where he received a formal military reception. (KUNA)
