Kuwait, Pakistan reaffirm strong ties, boost cooperation during FM's Islamabad visit

ISLAMABAD, July 29: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held a series of high-level meetings in Islamabad on Wednesday, reaffirming the deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and Pakistan while discussing ways to expand cooperation, strengthen regional security, and enhance coordination on key regional issues.

During his official visit, Sheikh Jarrah met with Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to Kuwait's Foreign Ministry, the discussions focused on the longstanding historical relations between the two friendly nations and explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors in line with the shared interests of both countries.

The meetings also covered the latest regional developments, with both sides exchanging views on efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote security and stability across the region.

Sheikh Jarrah expressed Kuwait's appreciation for Pakistan's active diplomatic role in supporting regional peace and stability, highlighting the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries.

In his meeting with Prime Minister Sharif, the Kuwaiti foreign minister conveyed the greetings of Kuwait's leadership to President Asif Ali Zardari and the prime minister, along with their wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of Pakistan.

The meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir placed particular emphasis on expanding defense and security cooperation, with both sides agreeing on the importance of strengthening collaboration in these areas to further deepen bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Sharif's meeting was attended by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, along with the ministers of defense, commerce, national food security, research and communications, maritime affairs, petroleum, and other senior Pakistani officials.

The visit underscored the commitment of both Kuwait and Pakistan to further enhancing their strategic partnership through closer political, economic, defense, and diplomatic cooperation while working together to promote regional stability.
