Kuwait, Pakistan Discuss Strengthening Economic Ties and Trade Agreements

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 9: Kuwait’s Minister of Finance Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rifai met on Tuesday with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Zafar Iqbal to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in various economic and investment sectors.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the meeting focused on enhancing coordination between the two countries and exploring opportunities to broaden their economic partnership across multiple fields.

The discussions also reviewed progress on the proposed Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Pakistan, which was initialed in September 2023, as well as updates on the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments between Kuwait and Pakistan.

The meeting was also attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Asil Al-Munaifi and several senior ministry officials.

Officials said the talks reflect ongoing efforts by Kuwait and Pakistan to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen investment frameworks between the two sides.
