KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: Kuwait says optimism and not pessimism is clearly visible on the horizon because a silver lining is seen in the Gulf rift, as Saudi Arabia reiterates the solution to the Gulf crisis “will only be through Kuwaiti mediation and through the GCC system”, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement to Al-Rai, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Al-Jarallah asserted that “Kuwait has been and is continuing its efforts to heal the Gulf rift and resolve the crisis between brothers within the framework of the GCC countries.”
Al-Jarallah pointed out that the Kuwaiti efforts have not stopped throughout the crisis and will not stop. He said, Kuwait from the first day has stressed that it will not rest until the Gulf rift is healed, and the relations within the GCC system return as they were.

“Today we are more optimistic than pessimistic in this regard,” he said. Riyadh stressed in a report published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) yesterday on the Gulf crisis that “it sought to protect the stability of the GCC since the outbreak of the Gulf crisis.”

The report outlined the Kingdom’s efforts since the beginning of the crisis and the measures it has taken towards Qatar, pointing out Qatar’s participation in the Gulf meetings hosted by the Kingdom, the most important of which is the 39th GCC summit Riyadh Declaration which talks of the importance of adhering to the GCC to face the challenges in the region and ensuring its strength and unity among its members.

The Saudi report called on His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to stop media campaigns that harm the values by highlighting the differences among brothers.
