AMMAN, Oct 5: The Kuwait men’s national volleyball team launches its campaign in the 24th Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship against Bahrain at 3:00 pm today at Prince Sumaya Hall in Jordan.
Jordan is hosting the championship from October 6 to 15, with six teams — Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Algeria — competing for the title. Algeria faces Oman, and host Jordan meets Saudi Arabia in the other opening-day match.
Kuwait faced Bahrain in the opening round before facing Algeria in its second match. The team will then rest before continuing its campaign.
Kuwait meets Algeria at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, followed by Oman at 4:00 pm on October 9, Saudi Arabia at 4:00 pm on October 11, and Jordan at 6:00 pm on October 13.
The tournament is a single round-robin, with final standings determined by the teams’ results. Kuwait is aiming for a strong showing and a top finish.
A winning start against Bahrain would provide Kuwait with a significant morale boost ahead of its remaining matches.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s national beach volleyball delegation has travelled to Doha for the third round of the West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship, which runs from October 5 to 10.
Kuwait Volleyball Association Vice President Nasser Mohammed Al-Owaid heads the delegation, which includes administrators Issa Al-Salim and Al-Anoud Al-Moanes, national coach Ahmed Abdulrazzaq, men’s players Barak Khasrouh and Ibrahim Diaa, and women’s players Halima Abdullah and Alaa Anas Al-Bahwah.
The Kuwait players will look to make their mark in the regional tournament and secure strong results.
