‘Kuwait-Oman stand united in current regional turmoil’

OMAN, June 9: Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said on Monday that convening the 11th session of the Kuwait-Oman Joint Committee amid unprecedented crises and conditions shows the “strength of our bilateral and Gulf ties and their firmly rooted continuity”. Delivering a speech during the 11th session, Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber added that the meeting also affirmed keenness on cooperation paths, noting that challenges and difficulties have not affected “our resolve to address and overcome through solidarity, faith, and foresight, guiding “us towards integration and strengthening the capabilities of resilience and endurance”.

The Kuwaiti minister expressed pride in marking the 55th anniversary of Kuwait-Oman diplomatic relations, describing their blessed and continuously developing path across all levels as an extension of deeply rooted and firmly established historical ties. He pointed out that these relations refl ect shared aspirations and common characteristics based on a unified destiny, goal, and aligned visions seeking to achieve integration and interconnection across all vital fields in a way that fulfills the hopes and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, guided by the visions of the two wise leaderships. He said that he looks forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an executive program in this session to be added to the record of bilateral deals, totaling 49 deals and memos, signed between the two countries in multiple vital sectors.

He thanked the preparatory committee members for all efforts made for this session that contributed to its work, as a translation of “our shared desire” for pushing exemplary ties for new horizons, under the wise directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq. The minister also thanked his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi, government and people for hospitality and warm reception as well as good arrangements for this meeting. Meanwhile, the Omani minister said this session was held in implementation of the directives of the two countries’ leaderships that call for enhancing bilateral collaboration, mainly in economic, trade, cultural and scientific fields, along with sharing expertise, for further integration and partnership between Kuwait and Oman. Al-Busaidi noted that the regular convening of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee refl ects attention and care paid by the leadership of both countries, and embodies their shared commitment to strengthening its role as an effective institutional framework for advanced bilateral cooperation towards more progressive and comprehensive levels.
