Kuwait Olympic team lose 2-1 to Bahrain in ‘friendly’

Al-Azraq to face Saudi on Oct 16

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10, (KUNA): Kuwait’s national Olympic team lost to the Bahraini Olympic team 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday at the launch of the “Olympic Return” tournament which was held in Kuwait.

The friendlies games are organized with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in preparation for the next Olympic qualifiers.

The match started with a neutral vibe from both sides until the Bahraini Hashem Essa open the score from outside the penalty area in the 21st minute before his teammate Jassem Staif doubled the score in the 45th minute.

The Kuwaiti team entered the second half with a much better performance than the first, to successfully close in on the goal difference with a goal in the 68th minute by Eid Al-Rashidi, but it was not enough to level the score.

“Al-Azraq” Olympic team will face Saudi Arabia on October 16 in the last stage of the trilateral friendly tournament.

“Al-Azraq” went up against the Omani team last month as part of the preparations for the Olympic qualification in the Asian zone for the Tokyo 2022.
