KUWAIT CITY, June 4: The Managing Director of Global Marketing at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Sheikh Khaled Ahmed Al-Sabah, confirmed that the Kuwaiti oil sector will resume production at up to 70 percent within six to eight weeks following the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. During his participation in the Middle East Oil and Gas Conference organized by Standard & Poor’s Global Energy on June 2 and 3 in London, Sheikh Khaled Ahmed Al-Sabah explained that the remaining 30 percent may take approximately an additional month to return to normal levels. Sheikh Khaled affirmed that Kuwait’s refineries are expected to return to full operational capacity within two to three weeks.

According to informed sources, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has opted for a full resumption of operations in the Kuwaiti oil sector within the next three months, due to ongoing maintenance work and efforts to address disruptions in production from some wells. Some wells had been experiencing production declines, prompting the company to mobilize all its resources to achieve a full return to capacity between September and October. The sources indicated that KPC has granted KOC broad authority to carry out its operations without pressure. They noted that the Burgan field is expected to return to full production capacity once all disruptions affecting oil flow in recent years have been resolved.
