Fest a celebration of artistic, cultural and media creativity of the people of Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, May 9: The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Artists and Media Syndicate in Kuwait, Dr. Nabil Al-Failakawi, announced that the Syndicate will organize the Kuwait New Cinema Festival from May 25 to May 27 under the auspices of the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Failakawi said in a press statement the initiative of the Minister of Information comes in support of the youth to celebrate the artistic, cultural and media creativity of the people of Kuwait. He praised Minister Al-Mutairi’s directives to affirm the name of Kuwait, celebrate the generations of the artistic craft in the field of cinema, and open the doors for cooperation with the specialized bodies, foremost among which is the Ministry of Information, as well as the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature.
He stressed members of the Syndicate regard with appreciation and gratitude the initiative of the Minister to organize the festival under his sponsorship for promoting youth cinematic creativity at the local and Arab levels and creating a new platform in addition to the Kuwait Film Festival organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature, which has become one of the important events at the local cinematic level. He mentioned the festival’s organizing committee headed by the artist, director Abdulaziz Al- Sayegh, puts the final touches in terms of the committees’ work, especially the selection committee, the arbitration committee and the technical committee for the festival that will be held this year (virtually) in view of the precautionary measures that Kuwait and the world have taken due to the outbreak of the new Covid-19 pandemic. Al-Failakawi stated the organizing committee chose artist Saad Al- Faraj as the character of the New Kuwait Film Festival, in appreciation of his contributions to art in Kuwait
