KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The Kuwait National Guard announced that its explosives disposal specialists successfully extracted and destroyed parts of a drone warhead that had fallen inside a fuel tank without detonating.
In a statement, official spokesman Jad’an Fadel Jad’an said personnel from the Explosives Disposal Unit of the Engineering Battalion responded to a report of the incident and carried out a technical inspection at the site.
The inspection revealed that the drone’s warhead had fallen inside the tank but had not exploded, creating a complex technical challenge due to the presence of petroleum materials and chemical vapors.
According to the statement, the operation to safely handle the unexploded device took seven consecutive days. During that time, the fuel tank was completely emptied and extensive safety measures were implemented to ensure the protection of the disposal team.
The National Guard said the successful operation reflects the high level of readiness and expertise of the Engineering Battalion in handling complex and dangerous situations. It also highlighted the coordination and cooperation with relevant military and security authorities in Kuwait to safeguard lives, property, and national security.
