KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: The Kuwait Municipality emphasized the importance of ensuring a healthy and safe work environment for laborers and implementing safety standards in construction and building projects across the industrial and investment sectors.
Muhannad Al-Saeedi, Head of the Engineering Violations Follow-up Department at the Capital Governorate, highlighted the need for proactive and preventive measures to avoid summer-related accidents, including precautions against fires and compliance with workers’ rest area requirements.
Al-Saeedi said the inspection campaigns aim to verify that consultants and contractors comply with municipal and General Fire Force regulations regarding occupational health and safety, as well as adherence to laws and circulars governing construction site safety standards.
He added that the Municipality issues warnings and violations to contracting companies to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations. Recently, warnings were issued to approximately 18 properties in the Bneid Al-Gar area, with seven companies voluntarily removing violations. Companies that fail to comply will first receive warnings, followed by potential suspension of their files, he noted, urging all firms to adhere to municipal laws and regulations.
Al-Saeedi further stressed that inspection teams across the six governorates are closely monitoring adherence to municipal rules and regulations through field inspection campaigns.
