Kuwait Municipality Reviews Compliance with Demolition Regulations

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: Kuwait Municipality announced on Thursday that safety departments across all six governorates have launched a field inspection campaign to monitor compliance with regulations governing building demolitions of all types. The campaign aims to ensure adherence to approved demolition procedures for private residential, investment, commercial, industrial, and chalet properties, as well as compliance by classified demolition contractors and the proper issuance of demolition permits by the Kuwait Municipality.

The Municipality highlighted the supervisory role of safety department teams, staffed by qualified national engineers, in overseeing demolition activities. Their responsibilities include ensuring full compliance with safety requirements, supervising demolition operations, monitoring the classification of demolition contractors, and taking necessary regulatory action against violators to enforce safety laws and regulations.

In this regard, the Director of the Safety Department at the Hawalli Governorate Municipality branch, Engineer Khaled Al-Otaibi, stated that the department’s inspection team conducted field visits to several properties undergoing demolition. The inspections confirmed that the sites were complying with safety requirements and held valid demolition permits, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.

He added that a total of 16 safety licenses were issued during the campaign, including 12 licenses for private residential properties and four licenses for investment housing projects.
