KUWAIT CITY, March 29: The Kuwait Municipality has approved the request of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport regarding allocating a site to collect rainwater in the Shuaiba area, reports Al-Jarida daily. The municipality referred the request of its director, Eng. Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, to the President of the Municipal Council, Abdullah Al-Mahri, where Al-Manfouhi stated that the technical opinion came in agreement with allocating a site measuring 49,340 square meters, with a water channel with a length of 703 meters, and a connection link with a width of 25 meters in the Shuaiba area within the consultative agreement No AH/I/228 regarding the study, design and preparation of contractual documents and supervision of the implementation and maintenance of rain drainage systems for the northern, southern and western urban areas of Kuwait.

Al-Manfouhi indicated that the municipality stipulated commitment and adherence to the responses of the Sub-Committee for Public Utilities and Services committee at its meeting No. 5/2021 on May 5, 2021 and coordination with it before implementation, which mentioned some observations, including the Survey Department in Kuwait Municipality regarding the site’s conflict with optical fiber lines, and that there is no objection to allocating the site after the approval of the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA).

However, the Kuwait Oil Company said it was found that there are services for the company that are in conflict with or near the project and that before starting the implementation of the project, a full protection of the services must be ensured at the site during and after the start of work on the project.

The company also requested a technical study of the project before implementation. The municipality demanded that a comprehensive study be submitted to assess the environmental and social impact of the project, and to authorize the administration to move and modify the dimensions and lengths of the sites and their area not to exceed the prescribed areas in the event that they conflict with any existing infrastructure services or for any regulatory reasons, during installation.
