No power to prevent delivery bikes on sidewalks, says the municipality.

KUWAIT CITY, June 11: The Kuwait Municipality has confirmed that it does not have the authority to prevent delivery bikes from parking or riding on sidewalks. This clarification came in response to a proposal by municipal council member M. Alia Al-Farsi. The Municipality cited Article No. 32 of Law 33 of 2016, which outlines the specific competencies of the executive branch, noting that regulating delivery bike parking and movement falls outside its jurisdiction.

Additionally, the Municipality addressed a proposal by the Vice President of the Municipal Council, Khaled Al-Mutairi, concerning the creation of an exit from Schools Street No. 200 in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area to Ring Road 6.5. The Municipality highlighted the challenges of this proposal, pointing out the proximity of the proposed exit to the intersection leading to Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Road. This proximity could lead to increased congestion and a higher rate of accidents in the area.

These statements underscore the Municipality's focus on adhering to its defined responsibilities while addressing infrastructure and urban planning concerns.
