KUWAIT CITY, May 11: Kuwait Municipality said on Monday it is continuing field inspection campaigns across Kuwait’s six governorates to crack down on violations involving the illegal use of public spaces in front of commercial establishments.

The municipality said the campaigns are aimed at ensuring compliance with regulations, bylaws and licensing requirements related to road occupancy and the use of state property.

Khaled Ra'i Al-Fahma, head of the Farwaniya Municipality inspection team, said during the municipality’s second inspection tour in the Al-Reqqai area that businesses displaying goods outside their licensed areas or operating without proper permits would face penalties.

Al-Fahma said violations include exceeding permitted space allocations, operating with expired licenses or occupying roads and public areas without authorization.

He added that such violations often contribute to traffic congestion, obstruct public movement and can result in the narrowing or closure of internal streets.

According to the municipality, inspection teams issued 20 citations during Monday’s field tour in Al-Reqqai for obstructing roads and illegally using space in front of shops.

The municipality said inspection teams in all six governorates will continue campaigns to enforce municipal laws and ensure businesses comply with public safety and road occupancy regulations.
