KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19: Kuwait Municipality conducted a field tour in Al-Farwaniyah Governorate on Monday as part of a campaign to raise awareness about the new amendments to regulations governing construction in investment housing.
Saud Al-Daihani, Head of the Violations Department in Al-Farwaniyah Governorate, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the field tours, carried out under the supervision of national personnel, aim to enhance public understanding of municipal laws and support the country’s development goals.
Al-Daihani explained that similar awareness campaigns will cover all governorates to emphasize adherence to municipal regulations, monitor construction activity, and ensure compliance with legal requirements and controls.
Regarding the new amendments, Al-Daihani highlighted that the most notable change allows allocating an entire floor in an investment building as a garden for residents. The updated rules also permit the use of basements, ground floors, and first floors as parking areas and provide an option for buildings without a commercial shop in front by adding 240 square meters. Additionally, the amendments allow the construction of studio apartments with a maximum area of 45 square meters.
The initiative reflects the Kuwait Municipality’s ongoing efforts to promote compliance with building regulations and improve urban planning standards.
