KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: During its weekly meeting chaired by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, the Cabinet announced that work in all ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions will be suspended on Wednesday and Thursday, February 25 and 26, in observance of National Day and Liberation Day. Official working hours will resume on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Authorities will determine holidays for sectors with special operational requirements, ensuring public interest is maintained.
The Cabinet also commended the operetta Deera Al-Khair (Land of Goodness), held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and the Prime Minister. Gratitude was expressed to the Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabai, Sheikha Amthal Al-Ahmad, and all involved in the production.
Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah briefed the Cabinet on His Highness the Amir’s visit to the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences building, marking the Foundation’s 50th anniversary.
On legislative matters, the Cabinet approved a draft decree-law amending Law No. 16 of 2020 on protection from domestic violence, highlighting it as a significant step toward safeguarding the family unit. Draft laws on ministerial delegations and ministerial solutions were also approved, alongside decisions on restructuring ministerial committees.
The Cabinet reviewed and approved the minutes of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs, which included several agreements and memoranda of understanding with sisterly and friendly countries, and submitted them to His Highness the Amir.
Expressing condolences, the Cabinet mourned First Lieutenant Khalid Ahmed Al-Sharaf, a martyr of duty from the General Directorate of Correctional Institutions at the Ministry of Interior. Deep sympathy was extended to his family.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the minutes of the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Nationality Investigation, which included cases of nationality loss or withdrawal under Decree Law No. 15 of 1959, and reviewed other agenda items, approving some and referring others to relevant ministerial committees for further study.
