KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday announced the death of Sergeant Mohammed Saad Al-Hajri, describing him as a “martyr of duty,” after he succumbed to injuries sustained in a fire at the General Directorate of Correctional Institutions.
In a statement, the ministry said that with the death of Al-Hajri, the total number of fatalities from the incident has risen to three, following the earlier deaths of Colonel Saud Al-Khamsan and an Egyptian worker. Warrant Officer Mohammed Al-Sharaf and two Egyptian workers remain hospitalized and are receiving medical treatment.
The Ministry of Interior mourned Al-Hajri, who served with the General Directorate of Correctional Institutions, expressing deep sorrow over his passing. The statement said the ministry, represented by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry Major General Abdul Wahab Ahmed Al-Wahib, and all ministry members, including officers, non-commissioned officers, personnel, professionals, and civilians, shared in mourning the loss of the late sergeant.
“With hearts that believe in God’s will and decree, we mourn with great sadness the martyrdom of duty, Sergeant Mohammed Saad Al-Hajri,” the statement said.
The ministry prayed that God Almighty grant the deceased mercy, a place in Paradise, and patience and solace to his family and loved ones.
