KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a public warning against fraudulent messages and fake websites impersonating official authorities to collect traffic fines.
In a statement, the Ministry, represented by the General Traffic Department, said that links circulating on social media claiming to facilitate traffic fine payments or warning of payment deadlines are not affiliated with any official entity and should be treated as scams.
The MoI stressed that traffic fines can only be paid through official channels, namely the Ministry of Interior application and the government’s “Sahel” app. It urged the public to avoid interacting with suspicious links and to rely solely on verified platforms.
The advisory comes as part of ongoing efforts to combat electronic fraud and enhance public awareness of cyber threats in Kuwait.
