Kuwait modern pentathlon team launches World Championship journey

KAUNAS, Lithuania, July 28: Kuwait's national modern pentathlon team has begun its campaign at the Modern Pentathlon World Championships for the youth and U-17 categories, which got underway yesterday in Kaunas, Lithuania, and will continue until July 30.

The global event features four disciplines: fencing, obstacle course racing, swimming, and laser run (running and laser shooting).

Kuwait is represented by Nasser Abathra, Mohammed Al-Sohaibi, Sharaf Al-Ajmi, Bader Al-Sohaibi, Omar Al-Shammari, Habari Al-Thuwaini, Retaj Abdulhussein, and Farah Al-Rashidi.

President of the Kuwait Modern Pentathlon Club and Federation, Nasser Al-Waleed, described the participation as the most notable in the team's history, highlighting that Kuwaiti athletes will compete in most of the championship's events.

Al-Waleed said the participation reflects the continued development of Kuwait's modern pentathlon program, noting that the delegation is the largest Kuwaiti and Gulf representation ever at an international modern pentathlon competition.

He added that Mohammed Al-Sohaibi, Habari Al-Thuwaini, and Retaj Abdulhussein are preparing to represent Kuwait at the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games, further underlining the team's growing presence on the continental stage.
