KUWAIT CITY, Jun 13: Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwayla, has referred several officials at the Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled in Sabahiyah for investigation following a surprise inspection visit.

According to a statement, the minister ordered the probe to determine shortcomings and assign responsibility after reviewing services and conditions at the facility, which operates under the Public Authority for Disability Affairs.

During the visit, she inspected accommodation areas, kitchens, meal quality, laundry services, cleanliness standards, and overall safety procedures. She said the aim was to assess the level of care provided to residents and ensure compliance with required standards.

Al-Huwayla stressed that any negligence affecting the health or safety of residents would not be tolerated, adding that she would personally follow up on the investigation and all observations recorded during the inspection.

She further affirmed that surprise field visits will continue to monitor performance and enforce accountability, emphasizing that the dignity and welfare of residents in care centers are a “sacred trust” that must not be compromised.
