KUWAIT, Dec 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti shooters bagged a cumulative total of six medals as the Arab Gulf shooting championship came to a virtual end on Saturday, with the national team's tally consisting of a single gold, two silvers and a trio of bronzes.

The national side's "impressive" medal tally came amid stiff competition from some 77 contestants, said Obaid Al-Osaimi, the team's secretary, adding that the sole gold medal went to Hessa Al-Zayed in the women's division, with her compatriot Mariam Rzougi trailing in second.

Ali Al-Mutairi clinched the bronze medal in the men's single division, while the national side also came in third in the group contest in an event that witnessed strict compliance with health and safety guidelines, he added.
He went on to dedicate the team's accomplishments to Kuwait's political leaders, attributing the success to the "overwhelming support" the athletes have received at home.
