KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi affirmed on Saturday that radiology departments form a fundamental pillar of Kuwait’s healthcare system, serving as a cornerstone for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning for patients.
In a press statement during an event organized by the Ministry of Health — represented by the Radiology Departments Council — to mark World Radiography Day, celebrated annually on November 8, Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted the indispensable role of radiology in modern medicine.
He noted that the commemoration marks 130 years since the discovery of radiography, an achievement that revolutionized medical diagnosis and treatment worldwide. The minister said the Ministry’s participation reflects its mission to promote health awareness and education among members of society.
Dr. Al-Awadhi explained that the Ministry’s pavilion at the event features educational exhibits illustrating the differences between various types of radiology — including CT scans, MRI, and ultrasound — while clarifying their safety and impact on different patient groups, such as pregnant women.
He added that such initiatives aim to strengthen public confidence in the healthcare system and raise awareness of the importance of radiological examinations in diagnosis and treatment.
The minister pointed out that Kuwait possesses some of the most advanced radiological equipment in the region, including hybrid MRI-PET devices that are not available in many countries. He stressed that the Ministry continues to enhance this system by acquiring state-of-the-art technology and applying the highest safety and quality standards, noting that radiology departments are among the most compliant with these benchmarks within the nation’s healthcare framework.
The exhibition also features several educational and scientific pavilions showcasing the leading services offered by radiology departments. It aims to familiarize visitors with their vital role in the healthcare process and to demonstrate how the Ministry is keeping pace with technological progress to improve the quality of medical services provided to the community.
