CAIRO, July 16: The Kuwaiti youth volleyball team earned a decisive 25-22, 26-24, and 25-18 win over Egypt in a friendly match in Cairo. This match was part of the team’s training camp in preparation for the 22nd Asian U-20 Volleyball Championship, scheduled to be hosted in Indonesia from July 23 to 31.
Coach, Jassem Al-Tararwa, expressed his satisfaction with the players’ performance, particularly their physical fitness and technical harmony. He expressed optimism about achieving positive results in the tournament and aiming for a podium finish.
Al-Tararwa praised the progress of the training camp in Cairo, highlighting the enthusiasm and high spirit exhibited by the Kuwaiti players during their match against the Egyptian team. This, he said, reflects their high focus and preparation for the Asian Championship.
The Kuwaiti national team has intensified its training at the Arab Contractors Club in Cairo, with sessions held twice daily, in the morning and evening, to increase the players' training load and physical fitness. The camp includes two friendly matches in preparation for the Asian Championship. The delegation is led by Kuwait Volleyball Association Board Member Jassem Al-Failakawi and includes administrator Hamoud Al-Bathali and national team director Abdulaziz Al-Failakawi, along with 14 players.
Notably, the Kuwaiti youth team won its first test match against Al-Sharqiya Youth Al-Dukhan with a score of 3-0, and in the second match, it defeated Heliolido Club’s first team, a member of the Egyptian Professional League, also with a score of 3-0. The team will conclude its camp today with a match against the Egyptian junior national team, before returning to Kuwait on Friday and departing for Indonesia on Saturday.
