BEIRUT, Sept 9 (KUNA): The West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship, organized by the Lebanese Volleyball Federation, in the coastal city of Batroun, with Kuwait participating in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
Issa Al-Sulaim, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, expressed optimism that the teams would achieve strong results in the championship, building on the experience they gained in the recent Arab Beach Volleyball Championship.
François Mansour, head of the Lebanese Volleyball Federation’s Courts Committee, said he hoped the tournament would be successful, noting that holding it on the same courts used for the Arab Championship would allow for improvements and enhancements in the current event. He also praised the participation of Arab countries, marking the return of major regional volleyball events to Lebanon after a long hiatus.
Kuwaiti coach Ahmed Abdulrazzaq commented that the women’s team faced a tough start, losing 2-0 to the Lebanese team.
In parallel, the referee training and development program for volleyball officials began at the Abdullah Al-Salem Center for Leadership Preparation, running until the 18th of this month. Ten referees will be promoted from second to first grade during the program, which is led by international referees Dr. Ahmed Aneezan and Adel Bounashi.
