Kuwait & Lonestar sign spacebased data storage partnership

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: Kuwait Innovation Center announced a partnership with Lonestar, an American company specializing in developing space-based data storage technologies. This is considered a crucial step towards strengthening the presence of Kuwait in the technology and space sectors. In collaboration with Prima Security, the partnership opens new horizons for Kuwait and the region in one of the most promising technology sectors, especially since the center is an agent for Lonestar in the Gulf region and Egypt. Lonestar CEO Steven Euseli presented the vision of the company or the future of space-based data storage, affirming the importance of the partnership with the center. He expressed happiness over the warm reception, high attendance level and excellent organization of the launching of the partnership. In his speech at the event, he expressed his eagerness to return to Kuwait soon to move from the partnership announcement phase to commencing work and developing joint opportunities and projects.

On the other hand, CEO of the center Mohammad Salah Al-Rifai said the center believes in the ability of Kuwait to play a greater role in the modern technology and investment sectors. He pointed out that the partnership with Lonestar is a step towards transforming Kuwait into a launch pad for high-quality technologies and investments in the region. He disclosed that the center is the exclusive agency for Lonestar in Kuwait, in addition to its partnership with Prima Security, which supports the development of an integrated system combining space technology, data security, infrastructure and investment. Mahmoud Hamza Al-Hawari, Legal and Investment Director at the center, indicated that the center is working hard to establish high-quality partnerships and open channels of cooperation between international companies and the public, private and investment sectors.

He stated that the vision extends beyond the Kuwaiti market to include the Gulf, Egypt and Middle East markets, thus, strengthening Kuwait’s position as a regional platform for technology, innovation and investment. He said the center regards the Kuwaiti market as the first step towards future initiatives that will establish branches of the company in the Gulf, Egypt and Middle East, hence, opening a unique and pioneering investment opportunity in Egypt and the Middle East. He expects the next phase to be an expansion of the scope of cooperation, with the partnership nearing its launch in the Egyptian market from Kuwait, within a vision aimed at building crossborder partnerships, which combine advanced technology with capital and institutional expertise.

Fawaz Fouad Buqmaz, Executive Director for Artificial Intelligence at the center, confirmed that this strategic partnership with Lonestar will be the starting point for developing locally made artificial intelligence technologies, which will later be tested in space. Buqmaz asserted that this collaboration opens a new dimension to the journey of research, development and innovation, and lays the foundation for creating unprecedented solutions that originate in Kuwait and will reach the whole world. He stated that work on these technologies will commence in preparation for testing them in the launch scheduled for April 2027. The event featured a special appearance by Lonestar Chairman Chris Stott, along with his wife, astronaut Nicole Stott who spoke about her experience and vision for the space sector. Nicole also presented the developments related to launching spacecraft and future solutions for operating data storage technologies beyond Earth. Her participation added a distinctive dimension to the event by linking practical experience in space with the commercial and investment opportunities provided by modern technologies.
