Kuwait lists drug crimes that warrant ‘execution’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: The Ministry of Interior announced that the death penalty for drug trafficking and the use of intoxicants will be enforced in several cases under the new anti-narcotics law, which will come into effect on December 15, 2025, reports Al- Seyassah daily. In an official statement, the ministry explained that the death penalty applies in the following circumstances:
  •  If the accused established or ran an organization or gang to commit crimes involving narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances.
  •  If the accused forced another person to use narcotics or psychotropic substances, or introduced them into their body without their knowledge, resulting in death.
  • If the accused planted narcotics on another person to falsely accuse them of possession or conceal evidence, without the victim’s knowledge, and the victim was subsequently convicted and sentenced.
  • If the convicted individual repeats the same crime.
  • If the accused used a minor or a mentally ill person to commit the crime.
  • If the crime occurred in prisons, police stations, rehabilitation or addiction treatment centers, places of worship, educational institutions, or sports clubs.
  •  If the perpetrator abused their official position to commit the crimes.
  • If the perpetrator provided narcotic or psychotropic substances to a minor for personal use
