KUWAIT CITY, Apr 9: Kuwait has begun implementing key measures under its national strategy to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling, officials said following a high-level meeting chaired by Nasser Al-Sumait.

The meeting of the National Standing Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants marked the start of executive steps to activate the strategy’s recommendations, according to the Ministry of Justice Kuwait.

Authorities said the plan focuses on strengthening prevention efforts, enhancing protection for victims, and improving monitoring and prosecution mechanisms. It also aims to establish more effective systems for victim care while safeguarding their rights.

The strategy further seeks to boost coordination among relevant government bodies through a structured national framework aligned with international standards.

Officials added that the committee will submit progress reports to the Cabinet every three months, outlining developments and evaluating the effectiveness of national efforts to combat trafficking and migrant smuggling.

The move reflects Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its legal and institutional response to human trafficking and ensure better protection for vulnerable groups.
