KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, part of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), announced the launch of the second edition of its intensive national training program for high school students preparing for the 2026 International Physics and Chemistry Olympiads.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the center said a total of 169 high school students from across Kuwait have registered for the program, including 82 in the physics track and 87 in the chemistry track, with 83 male and 86 female students. Eleventh-grade students recorded the highest participation, while the Capital and Hawalli governorates had the most registrations.
The center noted that the launch of the second edition follows the success of the first, which resulted in distinguished participation of Kuwaiti students in the International Physics Olympiad in France and the International Chemistry Olympiad in the UAE, strengthening Kuwait’s presence in international scientific forums.
The program’s initial stages of scientific qualifiers and intensive training will be conducted under the supervision of selected local and international experts, as part of the “11 Percent” initiative launched by the center. The initiative aims to boost Kuwaiti student participation in international science Olympiads in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity affirmed that the program has become an annual event eagerly anticipated by gifted students in Kuwait, providing a stimulating scientific environment and genuine opportunities to discover and develop their abilities. The increasing student participation also reflects the Kuwaiti community’s commitment to investing in science and innovation as a cornerstone for a sustainable and bright future.
