Kuwait launches preparations for the 2027 World Championship in Germany.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Kuwait’s senior national handball team has begun its preparations for the 2027 World Championship in Germany, which gets underway on January 13, with its first training session held the day before yesterday at the Handball Association Hall at the Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Center in Daiya.

The opening session was conducted under the supervision of Icelandic head coach Aron Kristjansson and his assistant, national coach Ali Murad.

Most of the squad attended the gathering, with some players absent due to overseas training camps with their respective clubs. The coaching staff has also added eight new faces to the squad to evaluate their technical abilities and potential.

The Blues will make their 10th appearance at the World Handball Championship after being drawn in Group D alongside France, Argentina, and Brazil.

Kuwait will begin its group campaign against France on January 14 in what promises to be a tough opening test against one of the tournament favourites. Argentina and Brazil have also made significant strides in their performances in recent years.

Assistant coach Ali Murad said the technical staff is focused on improving the team's overall performance and ensuring the players reach the highest possible level of readiness.

He explained that the preparation programme was drawn up by the administrative and technical staff in coordination with the Handball Association's board.

Murad also praised the players for their attendance and commitment, expressing confidence in the squad's ability to shoulder the responsibility and deliver strong performances in the upcoming championship.
