The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a significant development in the country’s healthcare services for women.
The establishment of this unit is part of the Ministry’s broader strategic initiative to enhance and expand specialized healthcare offerings in Kuwait. According to a MoH statement, the new unit will play a crucial role in improving diagnostic, treatment, and preventive care in the field of gynecological oncology, ultimately aiming to elevate the quality of healthcare services available to women across the nation.
“This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s vision to promote women’s health, integrating the latest international medical practices. It reflects our commitment to improving the quality of life, preventing medical complications, and further solidifying Kuwait’s position as a regional leader in the field of gynecological oncology,” the statement emphasized.
Dr. Noura Al-Ibrahim, a recognized specialist in gynecological oncology surgeries, has been appointed as the head of the new unit. The MoH highlighted that this move is part of a broader effort to empower qualified national professionals and elevate the role of specialized medical leadership within the healthcare sector.
Dr. Al-Ibrahim expressed her enthusiasm for the launch, calling it a major advancement in the country’s healthcare infrastructure. “The establishment of the Gynecological Oncology Unit represents a major step forward in the development of women’s health in Kuwait. Its integration within the Kuwait Cancer Control Center, which already offers comprehensive services, will allow us to provide continuous and holistic care to our patients,” she said.
The head of the new unit also stressed that efficient referral systems will be implemented to ensure that patients receive timely access to the necessary medical services. She expressed her gratitude to the Ministry’s leadership, particularly Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi and Undersecretary Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, for their ongoing support and commitment to overcoming challenges in the healthcare sector.
