Kuwait Launches New Digital Service for Domestic Labor and Driver Visa Issuance

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 6: The Ministry of Interior of the State of Kuwait has announced a new digital service in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower and the ministry’s IT sector, allowing citizens and expats to issue and manage domestic worker and driver-related services electronically through the government unified application “Sahel.”

According to the ministry’s statement, the service is part of efforts to digitize government transactions and simplify procedures related to domestic labor recruitment and residency services. It enables users to complete applications without visiting service centers, improving efficiency and reducing processing time.

The announcement also outlined updated eligibility rules for sponsoring domestic workers and drivers.
Single women are entitled to sponsor one domestic worker only.
Married, divorced, or widowed women with children are eligible for one domestic worker and one driver.
Married, divorced, or widowed men with families are allowed up to three domestic workers and one driver.
Single men are permitted to sponsor only one driver.

The ministry said the system aims to regulate domestic labor categories more clearly while ensuring fair use of services and enhancing digital governance across government platforms.
