KUWAIT CITY, July 15: Under the direct supervision of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, authorities on Wednesday launched a large-scale security and inspection campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, marking the start of a nationwide drive to enforce the law, address safety violations, and improve public security across Kuwait.
The operation was conducted with the direct follow-up of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wahaib and attended by Acting Assistant Undersecretary for General Security Affairs Major General Hamad Ahmed Al-Munifi.
For the first time, all four of Kuwait's military agencies participated together in a single field operation, including the Kuwaiti Army, the Ministry of Interior, the Kuwait National Guard, and the General Fire Force. They were joined by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for Manpower, Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, Kuwait Municipality, and the Ministry of Health's Medical Emergency Department.
Wide-Ranging Inspections
The campaign focused on identifying and addressing numerous violations in the area, including illegal buildings, encroachments on state property, unsafe residential accommodations, overcrowded housing occupied by families and bachelors, unlicensed commercial activities operating from private residences, and businesses violating regulations.
Authorities also targeted residency law violators and individuals wanted for legal violations while issuing citations and taking enforcement measures against offending properties and businesses.
Security forces cordoned off affected areas, secured the operation, disconnected utility services from violating buildings where necessary, documented violations, and initiated legal procedures against offenders.
Humanitarian Measures
Officials stressed that humanitarian considerations were incorporated into the operation. Reception centers equipped with essential facilities were prepared to accommodate residents displaced by the evacuation of unsafe or violating buildings, ensuring temporary shelter and support for affected families.
Nationwide Campaign
Speaking during the operation, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah said the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh campaign marks the beginning of a continuous nationwide enforcement phase rather than a one-time operation.
"This campaign is the start of ongoing efforts that will expand to all governorates of Kuwait," he said, adding that preserving Kuwait's reputation and ensuring the safety and security of everyone living in the country remain top priorities.
Public Health Concerns
The minister highlighted serious environmental and health conditions observed in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, noting that pollution and poor living conditions pose risks beyond the area itself.
He pointed out that many residents work in hospitals and restaurants, warning that unhealthy living environments could contribute to the spread of diseases to workplaces and ultimately threaten public health.
No Leniency for Violations
Sheikh Fahd reiterated that authorities will adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward illegal properties and safety violations.
"There will be no leniency toward violating properties," he said, emphasizing that all legal measures will be taken, including the demolition of dilapidated or structurally unsafe buildings whenever necessary to safeguard lives and property.
The Ministry of Interior said the operation reflects the government's commitment to strengthening security, enforcing regulations, improving living conditions, and ensuring compliance with laws across the country through coordinated action by all relevant authorities.
