KUWAIT CITY, July 23: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has officially launched the “detector” (Kashif) service, a new initiative designed to enhance transparency in telecommunications by revealing the name and number of callers to recipients. This service, developed in collaboration with local telecom providers and relevant government agencies, is aimed exclusively at legal entities within Kuwait.

The “detector” service is part of the Caller Name Identification Regulation for public telecommunications networks, which aims to boost user confidence in the sector. By identifying the name of the calling party, whether from a mobile or landline number, the service seeks to reduce the number of calls from unknown or suspicious sources.

According to CITRA, the new feature will help users better recognize and verify incoming calls from both government entities and private sector companies. The service is expected to be a critical tool in managing communication security and trust.

However, CITRA emphasizes that while the “detector” service provides initial identification of callers, users should remain vigilant. They are advised to follow the guidelines provided by private authorities and avoid disclosing sensitive personal information, such as account numbers or secret codes, during calls.

The introduction of the “detector” marks a significant step towards improving telecommunications security and user trust in Kuwait's telecommunication networks.
